E-Stim Safety: Play Smart, Stay Safe, Have Fun

E-Stim play is exciting, stimulating, and when done properly very safe. The risks are low, but as a responsible manufacturer with all the insurances and product liability, we have to promote safe play and always err on the side of caution. That doesn’t mean you should worry or panic. A few simple guidelines make everything safer, more comfortable, and far more fun.

1. Know your limits and your health
Do not use E-Stim if you’re pregnant, have epilepsy, heart problems, or any electronic implant such as a pacemaker or insulin pump. These conditions can increase the risk. If you’re unsure, talk to your doctor before using E-Stim. If you are not sure how to describe things, talk TENS units.

2. Stay below the waist
Keep E-Stim play below the waist unless you fully understand what you’re doing and accept any potential risks. Avoid the playing across the chest, neck, and head  electrical currents in these areas can interfere with nerves or heart rhythm.

3. Never pass current across the chest
This includes hand-to-hand placements. Any electrical path that crosses the chest can pass close to or through the heart and increase risk. Keep all play points on the same side of the body or play below the waist to stay safe.

4. Never use around the head or neck
Even small amounts of electrical current can affect sensitive areas like the neck or throat - there are lots of nerves that control essential services like breathing. 

5. Start low and build up
Begin at the lowest setting and increase slowly until it feels good. Going too high too fast can cause discomfort or irritation, which ruins the fun. ElectroGel generally helps to smooth things out.

6. Protect your skin
Use electrodes only on clean, healthy skin. Avoid broken, irritated, or inflamed areas. This prevents stinging and helps maintain consistent, comfortable sensations.

7. Piercing
Using piercings as a contact point can cause issues. If you are planning to use your Prince Albert (other piercings are available), then ensure the piercing has healed.
